表現としての3Dスキャンの可能性を模索する習作の一つ。鏡を設置した風景に対しiPad Proを用いたLiDARスキャンを行うことで得られる3Dモデルとその撮影風景を、映像と画像として展示した作品。
鏡に対し3Dスキャンを試みるとき、鏡の面は認識されずにその奥の鏡の世界が3Dモデルとして生成される。今回は東京大学本郷キャンパスの各所に大きな鏡を設置し、実世界と鏡の世界が入り混じった風景の3Dモデルを生成した。
鏡に映った世界は視点に依って変化するため非常に主観的な存在であるが、3Dスキャンにより一つのオブジェクトとして 3Dモデルに焼き付けられることで強い客観性を持つことになる。
This is one of the studies exploring the possibilities of 3D scanning as a form of expression. The work is a 3D model obtained from a LiDAR scan using an iPad Pro of a landscape with a mirror installed.
When a 3D scan is attempted on a mirror, the surface of the mirror is not recognized, but the world behind the mirror is generated as a 3D model.
The world reflected in the mirrors is a very subjective existence as it changes depending on the viewpoint, but the 3D scanning process creates a 3D model of the world as a single object that has a strong objectivity.
